A Dutch treat for the poor Brits

So 24 hours after I complain that there aren’t many good deals, a missive lands in my inbox offering something creative, clever and, dare I say it, a helluva deal! It comes from Holland’s Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk. I’ve been to Noordwijk and I can tell you its beach is a great place to fly kites – and the hotel is definitely flying one with this offer. It goes like this: for every pound sterling you spend with them, they will give you 1.50 euros – just like it used to be, before our friends from the banking business trashed the planet! Robbert Jan Meinardi, global sales manager, said: “The British meeting market is of great importance for Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin. We have been working with UK-based companies for so many years and have built many fond relationships. We would like to express our appreciation for all the business we have received so far. Therefore we make this gesture in these current turbulent times so we will be able to keep on doing business like we used to.” Such charity brings a tear to my eye…here's to Robbert!
