Struggling Zap Event Hire back on track thanks to new TV show
A struggling Warwickshire event hire company is on the road to recovery after receiving help from successful businesswoman Hilary Devey as part of a new TV series.
Zap Event Hire is one of eight small companies to feature on The Business Inspector, airing on Channel Five next Wednesday. Produced by the makers of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Mary Queen of Shops, the show is presented by Devey, chief executive and chairman of The Pall-Ex Group, a multi-million pound palletized freight distribution business.
Cashflow, marketing and record-keeping are just three of the topics that come under scrutiny as Devey advises the firms on how to improve their businesses.
Zap Event Hire’s MD, Gary Martin, also asked Devey for help franchising out his table centre division, Table Art.
Martin said: “Hilary is a tough cookie but really knows her stuff. Thanks to her we are on the road to recovery. Her advice on marketing and how to set up a franchise for the Table Art side of our business was invaluable.”
Devey added: “When I first met Gary he was doing OK but was lacking commercialism and direction. He has tonnes of enthusiasm and was unsure how to take the next step. I advised him on branding, marketing franchising. I also emphasised the importance of keeping detailed records and paying his taxes and VAT on time. Gary has created a great concept with Table Art and with the correct franchise agreement in place his business will thrive.”
