Ex Events buys The Finishing Touch

18/02/2011

London-based event management company Ex Events Ltd has acquired corporate events company The Finishing Touch for £101,000. The last filed accounts for The Finishing Touch show a pre-tax loss of £215k on a turnover of £3m for the 15 months to 30 November 2009.

Ex Events Ltd, a subsidiary of Rivington Street Holdings, was established in November, comprising four directors who have all previously worked for The Finishing Touch – David Taylor, Kim Dale, Jo Morgan and Dan Green.

As part of the acquisition Mel Atkins, former managing director of The Finishing Touch, has joined Ex Events Ltd as CEO and board member with immediate effect. Three staff from The Finishing Touch have been confirmed as moving across to the Ex Events team.

Director David Taylor confirmed that
Ex Events would honour all of The Finishing Touch's outstanding debts and would continue to service all of its clients, although the company will trade and progress as Ex Events.

Dan Green, director, added:
“I am delighted that the opportunity to acquire and work with The Finishing Touch has arisen, notwithstanding the chance to link up with Mel Atkins again, as the company is a prominent player within the events management industry and has been for the last 22 years. We fully understand the company’s heritage and values having previously worked for them and cannot wait to get started.

"We will continue to deliver The Finishing Touch's excellent client service, whilst remaining fully committed to our existing clients, industry partners and suppliers.”

Green added: “Being part of the Rivington Group chaired by Jim Mellon is a great benefit. With offices spread across London, New York and in the Isle of Man it is a highly profitable and cash generative company with 130 employees worldwide – having such a strong and supportive parent can only assist us in delivering a better service to our clients.”
