Associations diving deep at IMEX America’s ‘Smart Monday’

The first IMEX America meetings trade show will feature an educational programme prepared by ASAE

The first IMEX meetings trade show in America will feature an educational programme prepared by ASAE: the Center for Association Leadership.

At its debut in Las Vegas in October, the British-owned event will partner ASAE with ICCA, the International Congress & Convention Association in an Association Day featuring a three-hour ‘Deep Dive’ session exploring the ‘shifting landscape of business models and membership in an uncertain future', led by Susan Robertson, executive VP of ASAE. The themed session on ’reshaping an association’s value proposition in a transnational world’ will be conducted by Glenn Tecker, chairman and co-CEO of Tecker International.

As an IMEX partner, ASAE, together with ICCA, will provide free of charge tailored education and networking specifically for association meeting planners and executives. Association Day will be part of ‘Smart Monday’ - a day of cutting edge industry education and co-located learning events on the day before IMEX America opens. IMEX America’s Association Evening will provide an opportunity for association executives to network with key IMEX exhibitors and partners.

ASAE is hoping to bring a significant number of its members along as hosted buyers. The ASAE membership of 22,000 US and global executives represents over 11,000 leading trade associations, individual membership societies and voluntary organisations.

It is expected more than 2,000 of America’s and the world's top-spending meetings, incentives and association buyers will be there. Around 80 per cent will be from the US, handling business both in domestic and international markets and the remainder will come from the rest of the world, with a special interest in buying in the US.

IMEX chairman Ray Bloom commented: "ASAE is a powerhouse in the associations and events world and we are delighted to have them in the driver's seat of our Association Day programme.”

The show's strategic partner and premier educational provider is Meeting Professionals International (MPI) with more than 23,000 global members. It also has key partnerships with all the leading meetings industry trade associations.
