11/07/2011

Events industry charity Meetings Industry Meeting Needs has funded the purchase of wheelchair hoists to enable people in Devon, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire to increase their mobility.

The hoists, provided through the specialist charity Motability, cost just over £3,000 and enable disabled people to use cars and wheelchairs seamlessly.

Trust fund-raiser Tom Lowres said: “By supplying these individuals with wheelchair hoists we will enable them to lead more active and fulfilling lives. An item as basic as this this can really transform lives as simple journeys that we take for granted, such as visiting friends and family, can be without the reliance on others.”

Meeting Needs liaison officer Peter Rand MBE said: “We are delighted to work with Motability on this project to provide such practical help.”
