imago triumphs as it hosts the 18th UK Corporate Games

01/08/2011

Staff at conference and events business imago, based at Loughborough University, catered for thousands of athletes during this year’s UK Corporate Games.

The competition – which is in its 18th year - covered 22 different sports with companies such as IBM, Fujitsu, Intel, John Lewis Partnership, Vodafone and ASDA entering teams from across the UK. Some of the larger companies brought almost 250 members of staff  to compete in almost every sport.

Kay England, chief executive of imago, said: “Loughborough University was the official host of the UK Corporate Games this year and it was an honour for imago to be involved. We’re pleased that we could use our expertise to make sure the events around the sporting competition went smoothly and that the athletes had top quality accommodation to make sure they were well rested before each race. This was a unique event and we’re confident that it has put Loughborough on the map for many of the visitors.”

Ben Sedgemore, games director, added: “It has been a pleasure to bring this major event to the region. The UK Corporate Games is an event that can and has benefitted everyone that wanted to be involved and there really is no better way to showcase what a region has to offer to the sporting business world. The welcome we have received has been terrific and we know that people will be returning to their offices today with weary limbs yet big smiles and great memories. The standard of facilities has been exemplary, our local event coordinators were great ambassadors for their respective sports and it truly was an unforgettable weekend.  Preston have a tough act to follow in 2012.”
