Berlin is claiming to be the world market leader in the field of medical conventions. In its half-yearly statistics issued by visitBerlin, medical conventions made up 11 per cent of all of Berlin’s events. The German capital was also strong in events relating to commerce, which also made up 11 per cent of the total, as the city posted a rise in room nights and participants in events.
CEO Burkhard Kieker, said: “Constantly new event spaces and cultural offerings show that the Berlin capital is in top form!”
In the same half year, room nights increased to about three million – 15 per cent more than during the same period last year.
From January to June, 53,450 meetings and conventions were staged in Berlin, one percentage point more. The number of participants rose by two per cent to 4.3m.
“Berlin has firmly established itself in the international leader group,” said Kieker.
