Grass Roots to produce ‘spectacular’ ceremonies for WorldSkills

21/09/2011

Grass Roots has won the contract to produce the opening and closing ceremonies of WorldSkills London 2011, the largest public sector event to take place in London prior to the 2012 Olympic Games.

More than 150,000 visitors are expected to attend the international vocational skills competition for young people, which takes place at ExCeL London from 5-8 October. The opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted at the O2 Arena and more than 8,000 guests from across the world will attend.

Charles Moyle, managing director for the event production division of Grass Roots, said the ceremonies would be two spectacular shows, showcasing some of the UK’s most talented young performers and celebrating the coming together of communities.

“We have had a great 2011 to date, with a number of new live production wins and are delighted that WorldSkills has commissioned us to design and deliver the opening and closing ceremonies at one of the biggest events in London ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games,” he said. “Our team is passionate about creating exceptional experiences coupled with flawless execution.”

Other agencies involved with the delivery of WorldSkills include Travel Places Events, which has secured a contract to supply 29,000 bed nights.
