Drpgroup achieves across the board growth in 30th year

10/10/2011

The drpgroup is celebrating a 261 per cent increase in profits for 2010 – it’s 30th anniversary year.

According to group figures, incorporating drp(uk), drpholdings, drptechnical services and CMD, profit before tax rose to £710,114 for the year ended 31 December 2010. Turnover increased by 51 per cent to £10.3m, while operating profit grew by 246 per cent to £727,905.

Managing director Dale Parmenter said: “I’m really pleased with the results. We’ve had some impressive growth figures over the last few years and 2010 really put us where we wanted to be.”

He added that 2011 had so far proven to be even more successful: “We had a fantastic Q1, then it slowed down a little in the second quarter, which has happened for the last few years. However, the third quarter shot back up and it’s probably the best third quarter we’ve ever had. We achieved 45 per cent of our target in that quarter alone.

“The last quarter is always last-minute bookings but we only have to do the same as last year to reach our new profit target for the year, which is £1.5m, before tax.”

More than 20 new clients were taken on during 2010 including Chiltern Railways, The Civil Aviation Authority, Thales, Electrolux, BAE Systems and Birmingham City Council. “We’re pleased about the mix; it’s really helped us to ride out the recession,” said Parmenter.

The team at drpgroup has also been significantly boosted, from 58 in 2009 to 101 today. “Over the last year we’ve added 40 people to the team. We added seven at once when we bought the digital company, MS Internet, which has proved very successful.”

Other activity at drpgroup has included numerous CSR projects and the introduction of the environmental standards ISO14001 and BS8901.

“We carried out 30 CSR projects in celebration of our 30th Anniversary and we said to the team please carry on some of those relationships and they have,” explained Parmenter. “They bring back soaps and shampoos from hotels to send to a women’s refuge, they’ve been refurbishing a scout hut and helping at a dog rescue centre. We’ve also been working with Sam Wilson from Eco Events doing a lot of education with clients, showing them that they can save money. The bedding in of the procedures has been challenging, we’ve had to streamline some as they were too complicated, but the bottom line is there are savings to be had.”
