Pharma division helps The Special Event Company boost turnover

12/10/2011

The Special Event Company has boosted its turnover in 2010 since launching a new pharmaceutical division, International Meeting Planners (IMP). The company, which has offices in London and North Carolina, America, has seen turnover rise from £90k to £243k since opening the division 18 months ago.

Sally Webb, president, The Special Event Company, said: “We decided to start the division because our office in North Carolina is in the heart of pharma land and it’s a very constant source of business. It has been very well received, particularly because we also do event management and can handle off-sites and dinners.

“Over the next couple of months we have conferences in Portugal, London, India, Dubai and São Paulo. We recently secured a big two-year contract and we expect to grow dramatically over the next two years.”

Webb added that she would be expanding the compliance qualified team in the coming months. The company has just been named one of the Top 300 Small Businesses in the Southern States of America by Business Leader magazine. The accolade was based on its financial performance, business achievement and community involvement. In addition, Webb herself has been recognised as an ‘influential innovator’ by fellow US publication, Special Events Magazine.
