The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London has hit a record £2.04m of sales in one month. Its previous record month was £800,000 in sales back in October 2009.
The figure is made up of new and repeat business for 2012 from an increasing corporate and association business mix – including a series of events for Marks & Spencer, Santander’s Investor Day, Incisive Media’s SES London Conference & Expo 2012, eTail London 2012, QCon London 2012 and The British Council’s Going Global 2012. Key international and national events for associations include the British Association of Spinal Cord Injury Specialists and the British Association of Dermatologists.
Sue Etherington, QEIICC commercial director, said the sales team’s success had come from working in partnership with clients and being flexible on the centre’s packages and facilities.
“2012 is going to be a great year for both The QEIICC and the events industry as a whole and we have some prestigious national and international events coming to London next year. The green shoots of recovery are definitely showing and we are taking bookings for events up to 2014.”
