Events agency Zibrant has reached its target of raising £13,500 for the Prince’s Trust as part of the charity’s Wild UK Challenge initiative.
A total of 16 staff members – including managing director Fay Sharpe – travelled 100 miles across Somerset and Devon on foot, by kayak and bicycle. Starting at Dunster Castle near Minehead, the teams completed a hill race and navigation hike on day one, and lake kayaking, orienteering challenges and over 30 miles of cycling on day two, camping out each night. On the final day, the bike challenge finished on the Exmouth Coast, with extra points awarded for Zibrant team members participating in a sea swim before crossing the finish line.
Sharpe said: “A huge congratulations to the Zibrant teams and of course thank you to our sponsors. We are delighted to be supporting a charity which helps young people make their way in business and extremely grateful to all who helped us make such a great impact on the fundraising campaign.”
Marketing executive Briony Hayward also completed the challenge. She said: “It was a very rewarding experience but really tough – with unexpected tests of our commitment including a run-in with a large herd of cows en route, and a neighbouring concert keeping us awake one night when we were exhausted. The sense of teamwork was amazing however and the ‘Zibrant spirit’ really kept us going!”
