Spine surgeons tap into Twitter at major Milan congress

28/11/2011

Twitter and smartphones were used as communication channels at the Eurospine 2011 congress, recently concluded in Milan.

Around, 4,000 participants from 81 countries actively participated on Twitter, providing a continuous flow of information before, during and after the meeting. In addition, smartphones were made available to all participants, loaded with information, scientific programmes and videos to increase the participation in the scientific sessions, the exchange of experiences and the sense of community.

Delegates were highly enthusiastic about the enormous networking and learning opportunities that these communication activities provided for them.

Staged in the pavilions of MICo,  the major meeting venue in Milan, and managed by  the AIM Group International, the congress drew orthopaedic and neuro surgeons, neurologists, physiotherapists and other specialists to attend the annual congress of the European scientific society dedicated to the prevention and treatment of vertebral pathologies.
