Denise Macdonald departs IHG after 15 years

IHG’s director of meetings, EMEA, Denise Macdonald, has left after a company restructure
04/01/2012

Denise Macdonald, InterContinental Hotels Group’s director of meetings, EMEA, has left the company after 15 years following a restructure within the meetings team.

Macdonald departed the hotel company at the end of 2011 and says she is looking forward to another “adventure” going into 2012. She explained that the restructure involved combining the meetings and the transient teams within IHG and that the teams would then be split into UK operations and EMEA operations.

Macdonald said: “There were other roles I could have gone to within the company. I loved my time there, it was just fabulous, but I thought that now was the right time to start another adventure. It is great having time out to stop and think.”

Having worked in the hotel industry for almost 30 years – first with Forte Hotels for 14 years, then with IHG
Macdonald is now contemplating what path to take.

“At the moment I am thinking whether I want to stay in the hotel side or move into the meetings side, or perhaps I want to do some project work.”
