London-based
global communications agency Imagination has opened a new office in Mumbai to
meet increased events demand in India.
In the past, the agency has produced events for India
from its UK and Hong Kong offices, however increase in demand and greater
creative opportunities has warranted a permanent presence. Three full-time
local staff – all of whom have worked for international agencies in the past –
are based in the Mumbai office, with four current vacancies to handle existing relationships.
A second office is also scheduled to open in Bangalore,
where Imagination’s head of operations for India, Uday Vijayan, will be based.
Vijayan has formerly worked with global agencies including JWT, Bozell and GPJ.
The agency marked its Indian presence this week with the creation of event
experiences for Land Rover, Jaguar, Ford and Tata Motors at the Auto Expo 2012
in Delhi.
Imagination has also been working with the Oberoi brand, including the design
of the award-winning Threesixty restaurant in the Oberoi New Delhi; and is also
leading the design and styling of the New Hyatt Andaz, due to open soon in New Delhi.
Imagination's
Asia Pacific CEO, Mark Barrett, said: ”Imagination has had a strategy in place
for our company’s global expansion for some time, and it has always included India. India is an exciting and an
exponentially blooming market, and with the opportunities presented to us we
believe now is the right time to enter.”
The
new office means Imagination now has 15 offices worldwide, covering Los Angeles, Detroit, Toronto, New York, London, Cologne, Stockholm, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing,
Shanghai, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.
