Industry heavyweights team up to launch new events agency

Former Grass Roots head of events Nick Bender has teamed up with three former UniversalProcon senior executives

Former Grass Roots global head of events Nick Bender has teamed up with former UniversalProcon chairman Patrick Collins, managing director Mike Ford and US operations director Colette Murphy to launch a new agency.

The quartet will reveal details of their new venture, which will be based in Slough, at a breakfast conference in Mayfair next Thursday (19 January).

Bender, who had been with Grass Roots for six years when he left in July, said he had found some ‘exciting partners’ to work with.

Ford departed UniversalProcon (now Universal WorldEvents) in June 2010 after a 20 year career. He launched a company called Responsible Power, which aims to save businesses money through reducing their energy costs.

Collins, meanwhile, left UniversalProcon after 22 years in April 2008 to start Touch Associates; a London-based event management agency. He was joined by Murphy in May 2010, who is director of global operations at the agency.
