Worcestershire-based event management and venue finding
agency, Ellis Salsby is partnering with online hotel booking company, Hotelzon
as part of a strategy to grow business through strategic alliances.
The partnership with Hotelzon will enable Ellis Salsby to
offer a more competitive selection of rates on rooms for event delegates.
Managing director, Ellis Salsby explained: “At the moment we
do accommodation booking for delegates at events but only at the allocated
rates. It’s end to end but a lot of users have a look and then wonder if they
can get it cheaper at laterooms.com. Currently only 20 per cent of delegates
who visit the site go on to book, so rather than giving people the chance to go
elsewhere we’ll work with Hotelzon to allow them to search other rates, like
advance purchase.”
The move follows an accommodation sourcing agreement made
with Edgbaston Stadium, home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, towards the
end of last year.
“Our strategy is to establish more partnerships with
venues,” said Salsby. “We’re having a meeting with a major venue in Birmingham next week.”
Meanwhile, the agency has undergone a rebranding exercise
and will launch a refreshed logo and website in the next month.
“Following feedback from our clients, we’re trying to come
away from the image of a one-man band - which we’re not - although we are
retaining my name as the company name. We want the website to focus on
successful events rather than the services we provide, such as venue finding.”
Salsby is also actively involved with the Midlands
Consortium of Conference Organisers (MCOCO), a venue showcase for booking
agency buyers. The next event will be held at the National
Motorcycle Museum
in Birmingham
on 27 February. It is non-profit making event benefitting the Warwickshire and
Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. To register to attend contact Ian Brown
