EMEC 2012 attracts 343 event professionals to Budapest

03/02/2012

The 2012 European Meetings and Events Conference concluded in Budapest, Hungary this week with a handover to 2013 host city, Montreux, Switzerland.

The annual event organised by Meeting Professionals International (MPI) welcomed 343 delegates for three days of education and networking. The attendance was slightly down on last year, when 400 delegates attended in Düsseldorf, Germany.

President and CEO of MPI, Bruce MacMillan said this was because of a decline in attendance from North American members who could not justify the extra time out of the office.

“We also expected a small drop because Germany is a bigger market, but we’re pleased with the attendance,” he added. “Rotating the conference around Europe allows different markets to access it. A lot of people thought going to Budapest was a very bold move but a lot of people who wouldn’t normally get to come ended up coming.”
