Events by TLC has opened a new office in Rio
de Janeiro, one year after launching its first Brazilian branch in Sao Paulo.
The Portugal-based destination management company has plans
to open a third office in the country by the end of the year.
Chairman, Diogo Assis said: “We will operate directly in the
capital, Brasília towards the end of the year. All the
other destinations in Brazil
we’re doing but through partnerships.”
He added that the company would continue to grow in Latin America in 2013. He said: “Our strategy is to consolidate
our presence in the South American countries and the Iberian Peninsular. We’re
looking for natural synergies between the countries when it comes to language, culture,
history, even to diplomatic relationships, which help a lot when you’re
building a new union. The financial forecast for Brazil is absolutely great; we’re
going to break even this year.”
The Rio office will be headed up by senior solutions
manager, Sophia Posser, who is being relocated from Sao Paulo. The growing demand for incentives
from UK
companies is behind the move, said Assis.
“While Sao Paulo
is doing very well on the meetings side, it is not somewhere you go to for
beauty. It is the place where decisions are made. We’ve been operating some
pharma meetings there and just had a big meeting from a British bank looking to
attract investors.”
TLC celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2012 and is planning
a series of celebratory activities throughout the year. It has also launched a new
brand, Exclusive by TLC, for individual luxury travel.
“We have launched the new brand to complement our offer and
further capitalise on the opportunities of the new economies like Brazil,” said
Assis.
