Zibrant is launching a ‘Cool Britannia’ campaign encouraging
clients to hold their events in the UK.
Managing director of the agency Fay Sharpe decided more
should be done to boost the profile of the British events industry after
attending a dinner hosted by the Britain for Events campaign.
“It was attended by Nick de Bois, the chairman of the All
Party Parliamentary Group for Events, and was looking at how the government and
the industry can work together to benefit the UK events industry. It really
struck a chord with me.
“Lots of clients I visit are very patriotic; the Irish, the
French, but we’re not very good at that. This year in particular we should be
raising our voices, with the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics. We’ve also got
some fantastic new properties opening around the country like the Bulgari and
the ME. We’ve got one of the best meetings destinations in the world, and I
want to be an ambassador to help promote it.”
Sharpe has launched the campaign internally, creating a
Union flag in Zibrant colours and encouraging staff to talk to clients about
the opportunities available in the UK.
She said: “I’m telling clients ‘do the green thing, hold
your event in the UK’.
I’m talking about the opportunities for incentives, making sure they know all
the fantastic things you can do.”
Zibrant will host an official launch event for the Cool Britannia
campaign in May at the five-star ME Hotel, opening on the Strand, London.
“It will be the first event at the hotel and hopefully be a
great showcase for it. It won’t be your usual go and have drinks; it will be an
interactive party promoting all things British. It will finish with a party on
the roof with some very British entertainment.”
