Flex your pedalo muscles to help children with Muscular Dystrophy

09/03/2012

A national charity which helps children and young people with Muscular Dystrophy is calling on the events industry to support its 1st Pedalo World Championships this summer. The event is being organised to raise funds to help support the delivery of the charity's 2012 flagship ‘Games Inspired Muscle Dreams’ programme.

Michael McGrath, co-founder and CEO of the Muscle Help Foundation is currently organising the pedalo event to be held at the Leander Club, Henley-on-Thames on 13 July 2012 and is looking for sponsorship for the event, namely through corporate teams who would like to 'flex their pedalo-muscles' on the day and in so doing help change lives.

The aim is to help raise money for some 200 lucky children and young people with Muscular Dystrophy who will witness the Paralympics across the 10 days of the Games starting in September. The ‘Games Inspired Muscle Dreams’ programme – endorsed by Lord Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London organising committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games – will involve 'Muscle Dream' beneficiaries from across the UK visiting the Olympic Park to watch a number of different events, finishing with an evening celebration party with past, present and future Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

McGrath said: “It’s compelling. It’s a ready-made solution which will provide businesses with the opportunity to engage with 2012 activity and be recognised as a company that wants to change lives.”
