ACC Liverpool is proving to be teachers' pet after winning a
trio of teaching conferences, bringing more than 3,000 delegates to the city.
The waterfront venue will host three events within days of
each other in March and April 2013, including the Association of Teachers and
Lecturers (ATL) annual conference, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) annual
conference and the International Association of Teachers of English as a
Foreign Language (IATEFL) 47th international conference and
exhibition.
Glenda Smart, executive officer of IATEFL, said: “Our annual
conference and exhibition is attended by over 2,000 English language training
professionals from more than 100 countries. It will be a busy programme of talks, workshops and
symposiums and an opportunity for delegates from all over the world to visit Liverpool, many for the first time. This will be our
second visit to Liverpool, having previously
visited in 2004, but the first time at this venue.
“Our delegates loved visiting Liverpool
last time, because of its strong reputation in the teaching conference sector,
as well as its history and cultural background, and we were keen to come
back. Now that there is a suitable venue for our growing numbers, it will
be interesting to see what has changed in the city.”
Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, added:
“The fact that we are able to comfortably host a succession of teaching and
educational conferences such as these highlights our versatility and
flexibility as a venue as well as our continuing strength and appeal in one of
the major conferencing sectors.
“All three events will bring fantastic economic
benefits to the city as we welcome 3,050 delegates, including many
international members visiting Liverpool for
the first time.”
