AIBTM announces 25 per cent increase in hosted buyer groups

More than 50 organisations will bring hosted buyers to The Americas Meetings & Events Exhibition (AIBTM), when it takes place at the Baltimore Convention Center from 19-21 June 2012.

Confirmed hosted buyer group coordinators include key hoteliers such as Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, Melia, Shangri-La, Sofitel and Choice Hotels International, as well as major US convention bureaux such as the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, Meet Washington State and Visit Orlando.

In addition, a new strategic partnership agreement with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) will deliver 500 hosted buyers, and a partnership with the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site) is on target to deliver a further 100 incentive buyers.

Craig Moyes, portfolio director, Reed Travel Exhibitions, said: “AIBTM offers an unparalleled opportunity for hosted buyers and we are thrilled that there has been so much interest in our 2012 event, which will be bigger, better and more engaging than ever. We’re tracking ahead of schedule on applications for AIBTM 2012.

“We expect to have 20,000 pre-scheduled, on-site appointments, with a mix of new and returning buyers. In fact, 85 per cent of exhibitors are returning from last year with 43 new exhibitors for 2012.”

Moyes added that AIBTM 2012 would deliver double the amount of education than last year’s show through partnerships with industry associations PCMA, ICCA, ACTE, MPI and Site. The organisers have also introduced a special ‘Market Focus on Europe’ hour to enable European exhibitors to meet with US buyers interested in placing business in the region.
