ADNEC puts faith in power of words

Managers at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) are hoping a name change will help them secure more large-scale international convention business.

From now on the 6,000 capacity Abu Dhabi Hall will be known as The ICC at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre to raise its profile among professional congress organisers.

HE Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, managing director, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, said:  “ADNEC has an important role to play in achieving the vision for the emirate outlined in Abu Dhabi’s Plan 2030. We continue to raise Abu Dhabi’s international profile as a destination for major events and the creation of ICC Abu Dhabi is another step in this direction.”

The venue recently hosted the World Ophthalmology Congress 2012 which drew 12,000 delegates.

ADNEC’s chief sales and marketing officer, Humaid Al Dhaheri said: “With a dedicated ICC and all the supporting facilities we have in place, Abu Dhabi is in a great position to attract many more large conventions in the coming months and years.

“Professional conference organisers recognise and appreciate ICCs. The ICC Abu Dhabi adds another string to our bow as we promote the emirate internationally as a market for association meetings.”
