Olympic ceremonies specialist DAE opens Qatar office

David Atkins Enterprises (DAE), the production company behind the Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies in Sydney and Vancouver, has opened a new office in Doha, Qatar.

The expansion follows DAE’s successful delivery of ceremonies of the 12th Arab Games in Doha last year.

CEO David Atkins said: “In 2006, DAE created and delivered the ceremonies of the 15th Asian Games in Doha, which marked the first Olympic event in the Arab world and launched Qatar as a global player in the world of sport.

“Coming back for the ceremonies of the Arab Games just five years later, we have witnessed an astonishing transformation. The bar is higher, the events more complex than ever, and a global audience holds its breath to see what Qatar does next. We are proud of the role DAE has played in this evolution, and are committed to supporting Qatar’s growth and progress.”

Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee added: “DAE’s permanent establishment in Doha is further evidence of Qatar’s position as one of the world’s leading events and sports destinations. DAE is an invaluable resource for Qatar’s growing sporting and cultural sector, and I am sure we will see much more of their work here in the future.”

The Qatar office, which is located at the Alfardan Centre in central Doha, will be headed up by Anna Maidon, who produced the ceremonies of the 2011 Arab Games. She brings with her more than 20 years of experience producing major cultural, sporting, corporate, festival and arena events.
