Conference Care recruits students as part of HBAA placement scheme

25/05/2012

Venue sourcing and event management agency Conference Care is recruiting two undergraduates as part of the Hotel Booking Agents Association's (HBAA) new National Graduate Placement Scheme.

The scheme – which is being pioneered with Conference Care - offers a full-year, certified industrial placement along with the benefit of the association’s programme of events.

Earlier this year, Conference Care director and HBAA chairman Chris Peacock visited Coventry University to promote the scheme. After receiving a large number of applications, two 12-month placements were offered to Jade Smith and Vesela Asenova, who are studying for a BA honours degree in Events Management. They will begin their placements at the Coventry-based agency in July and September, respectively.

Smith said: “It was great to have a personal visit from a director of an agency to the university; it gave us a valuable insight into the workings of a real business. There are so few opportunities available within the industry it is fantastic to be given a chance. Getting a place on the scheme is very exciting. I can’t wait.”

Asenova agreed: “The company continues to flourish despite tough economic conditions, and I believe it has a lot to teach us about all aspects of the industry.”

Conference Care director Andrew Deakin, said: “The scheme is about developing future talent for the sector. By helping students get the best start they can, we are supporting the industry and investing in both their future and our own.”
