A sustainable and affordable water supply system including a new borehole well and water filtration system for clean drinking water at an orphanage in India is to be funded by event industry charity Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN).
The work will be carried out via UK-based charity The Friends Of The Children Of Orissa - a trustee of which is Chris Pouncey, a retired event organiser and former director of The Travel Organisation (now BI Worldwide). The project will benefit all the 420 children who live at Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti in Orissa.
“There is a shortage of water including fresh, clean water for the children to drink because the existing well is running dry as it is not deep enough. The old filtration system is inadequate and there is an urgent need for a new deeper bore well and effective purification system”, said Pouncey.
“The cost of the project is just £2,887”, said MIMN committee member Dave Hackett. “This is a very small amount of money to make such a difference to these children’s lives. We have worked with this organisation previously and are delighted to support it again.”
