Funding from Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN), has enabled Leicester-based charity Inter-Care to send nearly £10,000 worth of medical consignments to Simanjiro Health Centre and Huruma Hospital in Tanzania.
Despatches have included two boxes of medicines and a clinical box of assorted dressings, 216 vials of amoxicillin and a box of flucloxacillin to Simanjiro with a further consignment scheduled to go out in August. Huruma hospital has received six boxes of medicines, four hospital boxes of assorted dressings, a box of assorted instruments, a box of baby clothes, a box of oxygen equipment, 2,000 blood lancets, a box of catheters, a box of lab equipment, 216 vials of amoxicillin and two boxes of flucloxacillin. While MIMN’s donation was just £2,400 to cover the shipment costs, the value of the products received will reach close to £10,000 because the medicines are also donated.
Inter-Care’s General Manager Diane Hardy said: “We can only continue to send medicines with the help of people such as yourselves, therefore we are most grateful to you for this precious gift. Your donation has made a tremendous difference to us and especially in a very difficult financial year. We are noticing that it is increasingly difficult to raise funds through traditional fundraising methods; however the medicine donations are flowing in thick and fast.”
MIMN’s Peter Rand MBE said: “Inter-Care does a magnificent job in delivering life-saving medication and equipment to those in need. We are delighted to support the organiation.”
