Berlin exhibition centre's location is ‘key’ to success

Berlin ExpoCenter Airport has a ‘unique selling point’ for attracting events, says co-owner

Event planners mulling Berlin as a potential destination now have a 20,000sqm exhibition centre - literally seconds away from a major transport hub - to throw into the equation.

The Berlin ExpoCenter Airport is next to the soon-to-be-completed Berlin Branderburg Airport (Willy Brandt) 11 miles southeast of the city. Besides three permanent display halls, covering 20,000 sqm, the grounds offer extensive outdoor space and temporary trade fair buildings.

The grounds, which cost €43m, were built in just 11 months and will host their first event, ILA 2012, Europe’s biggest aerospace tradeshow, from 11-16 September.

Messe Berlin GmbH owns half the grounds along with economic development agency ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg.

Raimund Hosch, CEO of Messe Berlin GmbH, said: “ExpoCenter Airport is the first trade fair venue next door to a  major international airport, a unique selling point for attracting events and a significant addition to the established grounds next to the Berlin Radio Tower.”
