Meeting Needs gives a lift to a disabled driver

31/07/2012

Conference and events industry charity Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN) has funded the purchase of a £2,000 wheelchair hoist for a disabled person.

The hoists give mobility by enabling wheelchairs to be lifted into motor cars for storage between journeys and the project was arranged through Essex-based specialist registered charity Motability.

Fundraising officer Carmen Gronland said: “Motability’s Charitable Grants Programme helps some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged disabled people in the UK who would otherwise be left without assistance. For some people a more complex mobility solution is needed to suit their individual needs.  Specifically, car adaptations, such as wheelchair hoists or hand controls. Last year Motability helped 2,820 disabled people in the UK become mobile."

MIMN secretary Sue O’Gorman said: “We have helped Motability on several previous occasions and we are delighted to be able to assist them with their important work again.”
