Zibrant raises £15k in 482 mile cycle challenge

06/08/2012

Event agency Zibrant raised £15k in its latest charity endeavour, a 482 mile cycle between its four offices in Paris, Canterbury, Godalming and Derby that took place in the last week of July.

Managing director Fay Sharpe was among the 15 Zibrant employees - divided into two teams, the Hot Dynamos and the Global Riders - who undertook the challenge, dubbed the Tour de Zibrant, that raised much-needed funds for three charities - Cardiac Risk for the Young, Send a Cow (which provides livestock to needy African villages) and Muscle Dreams, part of the Muscle Help Foundation, which due to the challenge’s efforts will send five youngsters to be event organisers at the Paralympics in co-operation with professional event planners from three of Zibrant’s clients.

Sharpe said: “It was an amazing experience and a terrific show of teamwork. We’ve had enormous hills, punctures, the odd collision and emergency gel seats and gone through vast quantities of chamois cream, but we made it. I am so very proud of the team for showing such incredible spirit. Although we trained hard in advance, most of us are not ‘proper’ cyclists and it was very tough at times, but no one was giving in, and it was a truly uplifting experience.”

When the Bradley Wiggins’ wannabes reached Derby, they enjoyed a celebration party attended by the city’s mayor, Councillor Lisa Higginbottom, and Zibrant clients.
