Going, going...San Diego Convention Centre is up for grabs

14/08/2012

San Diego Convention Centre, California, is putting itself up for auction to help raise skills in the meetings industry. The centre has teamed up with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) for the fifth annual PCMA CityWide Auction.

Up for grabs is exhibition space, and a proportionate amount of meeting space, at a knock-down price - plus a complimentary board dinner for up to 15 people. Bidding starts from US$150,000 (£96,000).

The money raised will help fund the educational resources Chicago-based PCMA offers its 6,300 members. The auction ends November 30, unless sold through the Buy It Now option.

San Diego hosted PCMA’s Convening Leaders annual meeting earlier this year.

Carol Wallace, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Centre, said: “We value our relationship with PCMA and support their efforts to continually advance the convention and meetings industry through education.”

PCMA president and CEO Deborah Sexton added: “The Citywide Auction offers planners an incredible deal, while supporting educational resources for all PCMA members and our industry.”
