Rees stepping down as chair of ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter

10/09/2012

James Rees, chair of ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter, is to step down after four and a half years in the position with Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, taking over next month.

Rees has been one of the longest serving chairs of the UK & Ireland Chapter and has been instrumental in the  success of the chapter, which, despite the economic turmoil, has recorded membership growth in recent years.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work our committee has done in developing the ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter,” said Rees. “During the recession our association has remained totally relevant and, most of all, ICCA continues to deliver measurable ROI for its members.”

MacPhie said: “James leaves ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter in a really strong place, and it’s exciting to be taking on the role looking positively to the future despite the challenging trading environment for our members. I’d like to thank him on behalf of the board for the passion and commitment he has shown to the chapter.”

Rees, director of Conference & Events, ExCeL London, said he would continue to be involved in ICCA on both a domestic and international level.

“I continue to be a massive supporter and fan of the association and wish Kerrin the best of luck, she’ll bring a great combination of experience, enthusiasm and innovation to the chapter. It will be in safe hands under her stewardship,” he said.
