Bristol launches delegate rail fare scheme

14/09/2012

Train company First Great Western and Bristol’s official tourism marketer Destination Bristol have joined forces to provide a new rail fare scheme for conference delegates.

The deal offers reduced rail rates for conference delegates travelling at any time to
Bristol from all main First Great Western stations, as well as on many of the connecting routes to First Great Western from the Home Counties. Standard return travel between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington, for example, now has a reduced rate of £44 (first class return, £89).

Kathryn Davis, Destination Bristol’s commercial services manager, said: “Bristol is being increasingly recognised as one of the UK’s top destinations for conferences, meetings and events.”

David Gardner, First Great Western’s account manager, added: “We hope that this will give the city a real advantage over alternative UK destinations and that delegates will elect to adopt rail travel over the car alternative.”
