Mclcreate expands in Scotland with new hires

Edinburgh branch hires new senior business development manager and new head of engagement, creating a new division

Mclcreate has expanded its operation in Scotland with two new appointments and the creation of a brand new engagement division.

The Edinburgh branch of the live communications company has appointed Mike Donoghue as senior business development manager and Mark McGauchrane as head of engagement, as it embarks on the next stage of its transition to a complete service provider. 

Donoghue joins the company with 25 years of integrated marketing experience, covering brand strategy, creative campaigns, digital technology and business development. 

Meanwhile, McGauchrane’s role will be to promote the new company direction, focusing on strategic development of client relationships and highlighting the creative side of mclcreate’s offering.  

“We are delighted to have Mark back in the team to head up our new division,” said Tim Spencer, MD at mclcreate. “It has created a new opportunity not only for Scotland but the whole mclcreate organisation. Clients based north of the border can cut out the middle man-style agency and take advantage of the expertise and know-how at mclcreate to engage fully with their audiences and guarantee cost effective, intelligent and robust live event deliveries.”

Donoghue, who will be working closely with McGauchrane in the firm’s Edinburgh office, said he sees mclcreate’s offering as one that is UK wide. 

He said: “In Scotland, events are not as much of a priority as they are in the south, and equate to around 10 per cent of the events market. We are aiming for events to get a bigger slice of the marketing cake and move it up higher on the agenda. It’s my belief that events create real return on investment and are vital to the marketing mix, for both internal and external campaigns.”

Spencer added: “The appointment of Mike to our business development team will help us to expand our operations in the competitive Scottish market. We also look forward to him bringing his integrated marketing approach to new and existing clients, further expanding the comprehensive offering and events know-how that we already have.”
