More than 80 events and communications professionals attended the first EVCOMFerence Bitesize event – where a range of speakers and topics provided ideas on how to work smarter against an unpredictable outlook for 2017.

And the Innovation in Communication event at The Brewery in London was such a success that there are already plans to schedule another conference in the summer.

Caspar Berry’s keynote used poker to illustrate the need to embrace managed risks to achieve objectives and why failure is an essential part of success. Elsewhere, Adam Waters looked ahead to 2017 through the eyes of a comms professional while Callum Gill provided an insight into creative leadership communications.

The session was rounded off with the three speakers being joined by Tereza Urbankova of Amec Foster Wheeler for a panel session on practical action.

Rachel Ley, head of EVCOM’s professional development committee, said: “It was hugely refreshing to gain such relevant perspectives from outside of our immediate industry sphere. I’d like to thank all of the speakers for stimulating our thinking towards embracing change and grabbing future opportunities.”

Steve Garvey, EVCOM CEO, added: “EVCOMference Bitesize relaunched the association’s conference in a new, accessible format for live event, film and digital communication professionals. Members told us they wanted an industry update and networking opportunity they could fit in to their busy schedules.

“Following the success of EVCOMference Bitesize at The Brewery we will schedule another conference in the summer and maintain the focus on helping our members be more successful.”

EVCOMference Bitesize was followed by New Year New Business drinks, the first networking event of the year for the live and visual communication industry sponsored by Dubai Business Tourism.
