ICCA UK & Ireland chapter has announced that John Guthrie, employment policy advisor for the British Hospitality Association (BHA), will join the line-up of speakers at its forthcoming debate on industry disruptors in Manchester on March 9-10.

Guthrie will speak on ‘Brexit and the hospitality industry’ during the dedicated session sponsored by Levy Restaurants UK.

Anna Fenten, head of marketing at Levy Restaurants UK, said: “We’re delighted that John is able to join the debate and lead the discussion for our session as the UK Government prepares to trigger article 50. As a global industry, it’s vital that we are all aware of the potential impact of changes in order to be able to adapt accordingly.”

With more than 25 years’ experience working in HR roles with major brands such as Cadbury Schweppes, Grand Metropolitan (now Diageo) and the Hilton Group, Guthrie will share his industry expertise to lend insight and context to the discussion.

John Guthrie said: “There are up to 700,000 EU workers in the UK hospitality and tourism industry, which employs 4.5 million in total and is the fourth largest industry in the UK. It is more important than ever for the industry to come together and discuss the challenges we face.”

Lesley Williams, ICCA UK and Ireland chapter chair and head of business tourism at Marketing Edinburgh, added: “These are uncertain times with potentially major changes affecting our industry as the country prepares for Brexit. We are delighted to have John and the team from Levy Restaurants UK join us and lend their perspective on this topical issue. We’re looking forward to a fantastic debate.”

Registration at the event is open to members and non-members of ICCA. For more information and to register, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/icca-uk-ireland-2017-annual-debate-tickets-30399177759.
