Jambo, a start-up app dedicated for business travellers, has been selected alongside 23 other businesses on a trade mission to Madrid this week.

Jambo founder and CEO Laura Stembridge will be joining London deputy mayor for business, Rajesh Agrawal, on the three-day visit, aimed at helping high-growth tech companies identify partnerships and explore business opportunities in Madrid.

Stembridge launched Jambo to immediate success in 2016. In the first few weeks its waiting list for membership grew to thousands while three international companies offered to test it among their 4,000-odd staff.

Stembridge said: "The Mayor's International Business Programme has been invaluable to date helping us to execute our ambitious growth plans. Having taken part in the US trade mission with Sadiq Khan last year, I’m thoroughly delighted to be joining the forthcoming Madrid trade mission.

"With Brexit looming and the challenges that lie ahead as we learn how the UK will continue to trade with Europe going forward, the Mayor’s International Business Programme (MIBP) will be instrumental in helping us break down any barriers that result and continue building strong business partnerships with European companies."

During the visit to Madrid, Jambo and other selected scale-up companies will be given the opportunity to connect with senior-level tech executives at one-to-one meetings, roundtables and networking events.

Deputy mayor for business Rajesh Agrawal said: "I am delighted that Jambo is joining me in Madrid as we showcase some of the most innovative and entrepreneurial businesses London has to offer."
