Event Marketing Solutions has reported a “historic profit performance” after increasing pre-tax profit by more than £500k, following significant trading improvement in the Middle East.

Pre-tax profit at the Cheshire firm increased from £261k in 2015 to £801k for the year ended 31 December 2016. The firm has also just moved into new, larger head offices to meet growing demand.

The profit increase was accompanied by a 6.6 per cent decrease in turnover from £5m in 2015 to £4.6m in 2016, according to accounts filed at Companies House.

The director’s report said: “The directors are pleased with the continued progress made in 2016, delivering a historic profit performance. Although group turnover decreased by 6.6 per cent on the previous year to £4.6 million (2015: £5m) and gross margins remained at 57 per cent, cost savings and exceptional items enabled the group to deliver profit before tax of £801k, representing a return of 17.25 per cent. This was also helped by a significant trading performance improvement in the Middle East.

“EBITDA in 2016 of £1.1m demonstrated the adaptability and resilience of the group in light of difficult market conditions.

“The improved trading performance in 2016, together with contractual commitments for 2017 has provided a stable footing for growth and investment. As a result the directors have committed on a long term lease for noew premises in the Ellesmere Port area which will provide even more scope for fleet investment and new products.

“The Middle East performance improvement has benefitted significantly from the freedom of international movement the group enjoys and the knowledge base it has.”
