Festive Road managing partner Paul Tilstone has been elected as an allied board member at large for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA).

Tilstone, the only UK representative, joins the board led by president Christle Johnson - VP of travel and business services at Johnson Downie - and Oracle's Rita Visser as VP.

Tilstone was elected to the board by GBTA's supplier members. He launched the agency Festive Road in January 2015 alongside Caroline Strachan.

Before his election, Tilstone had campaigned to get the GBTA leadership more international, as well as encourage the leadership to engage more with members. He said: "I am delighted that the members recognised the need for a more globally diverse board. I hope to be the first of many international board directors to come. Only time will tell if my appointment will be of benefit but I would certainly hope so as there's a new level of visibility in the board's decision making when it comes to Europe now."

Tilstone said he hoped to help the association evolve into a leading, next-generation association through creative ideas, as well as elevate the buyer-supplier relationship "beyond the commoditised buying process we have found ourselves in many cases".

Other appointments to the GBTA board include Scott Solombrino (Dav El/Boston Coach Chauffeured Transportation Network president and CEO) as Allied Leadership Council (ALC) president, and Dorothy Dowling as ALC VP. Enterprise Holdings' John Hampton was re-elected as VP of CPC, and LTD Hospitality Group's Samantha Bean as secretary and treasurer.
