More than £30 million will be injected into the North Queensland economy as it prepares to host its largest incentive group to date.

About 8,000 delegates from Amway China will visit Cairns in 2019 for a five-day incentive and leadership seminar. They will travel in waves of 1,000 people.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland director of business and tourism events Rosie Douglas said: "Amway China delegates are global travellers who seek experiences that motivate and excite. Our natural attractions, especially the Great Barrier Reef, and the ability to offer personalised experiences were a key advantage in securing this incentive program."

Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef led the Amway China bid with partners Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland, Cairns Regional Council and Cairns Airport. It comes as Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef doubled the number of business events in the 2016-17 financial year.
