Fay Sharpe, founder of Fast Forward 15, will be drawing conclusions and best practices from recent M&IT and BCD Meetings & Events research into workplace practices for female employees.

The event will take place on Wednesday 6 December at RIBA and will give insights and draw conclusions from the quantitative research carried out in August 2017.

Nearly 500 responses were received from the event sector’s influencers and decision makers with the results pointing to increased confidence in gender parity. You can read the feature here.

Fay Sharpe, vice president BCD Meetings & Events, said: “The sheer volume of respondents shows how seriously people take the female agenda. When we carried out the initial research over three years ago, the outlook was pretty bleak, but I can confidently say we have made huge leaps and bounds and in some cases fare better than other UK industries. This event is designed to celebrate, share and shape knowledge and to create a roadmap for the hospitality, events and tourism industries.”

Sharpe will lead a panel made up of organisations who are recognised for their progressive stance on female parity in the hospitality, events and travel sectors. Panellists will be encouraged to share their organisations’ learnings with the objective of the audience being able to create their own policies and procedures regardless of company size.

Tony McMurray, Fast Forward 15 mentor and finance director at Ingram Micro, added: “It’s incredibly gratifying to see how far we have come in a few years; it’s thanks to the trade media for highlighting the issue and to so many forward thinking bosses for getting engaged and embracing change at the top. The new data gives further insight in to what still needs to be done and the event will outline what organisations can do to be responsible, parity employers”.
