The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has launched a series of new ‘Connect’ events to further enhance the association’s programme.

Specifically designed to connect people and discuss business and the meetings industry, the events are intended to help attendees to gain insight, learn from each other and identify new business opportunities, as well as giving members a tangible return on investment.

Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia, said: “Some of the most popular events the mia offers are the networking events such as our agent dinners and agent days.

"The mia has challenged the taskforce with a mission to ensure these events continue to attract the right agents, are held in the right venues but, most importantly, offer the right business opportunities to members.”

Made up of a taskforce of hand picked influencers from the meetings industry, the volunteers will include Barbican’s Glenn Mainwaring, EEF Venues’ Anna Poole, Warwick Conferences’ Justine Meek, Lime Venue Portfolio’s Maria Scullion and Rockliffe Hall’s Gemma Pott. They will play a key role in shaping the events to ensure the programme proves to be beneficial to attendees.

The task force is also in the process of developing a brand-new ‘mia Sales HIIT’ in July. This will be a day of fast-paced, high-intensity, high-impact sales training, designed specifically for venues and suppliers in the sector.

The Connect events scheduled are:
·         March 15 – Connect Day – Millbrook
·         June 21 – Connect Dinner – Rockliffe Hall Resort
·         July – Sales Conference – London TBC
·         August 16 – Connect Day – Etihad Stadium Manchester
·         November 22 – Connect Dinner – Venue TBC
All events are open to members and non-members
