The East Thames Housing Association will become Kenya House during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Based in Stratford, just a 10-minute walk from the Olympic Stadium, the venue will host a permanent exhibition showcasing Kenya’s past, present and future from 27 July-12 August.
As the official home to the Kenyan National Olympic Committee during the games, events at Kenya House will include an investment summit and days showcasing trade, tourism and export opportunities in the country.
Visitors will be able to rub shoulders with the athletes themselves throughout the Games and enjoy cultural performances and Kenyan food, while watching live coverage of the Kenyan team competing. Sunday 12 August will see the House commemorate ‘Kenya Day’ in honour of the men’s marathon final and arguably Kenya’s strongest ever field of athletes.
Mary Kimonye, Brand Kenya CEO, said: ”Kenya is one of the world’s leading sporting nations and the Games present an opportunity to showcase a full range of the country’s assets including exports, investment potential and some of the strongest Kenyan brands. The UK remains one of Kenya’s top export markets and source markets for tourism, so this is a fantastic opportunity for the country.”
