Technology a 'challenge for everyone', declares new Watch judge

26/07/2012

Engaging 'Generation Y' is one of the biggest challenges facing the meetings industry, it was claimed.

"Captivating the minds of a generation of attendees who have grown up texting and surfing the web is now a challenge for everyone in the meetings and events industry," said Deborah Sexton, CEO of the Professional Convention Management Association.

Sexton, recently recruited to the panel judging the trade show EIBTM’s Technology Watch – awards for the most innovative products of the year - added: “It exponentially increases our need for innovative technology.”

The panel will be looking for any company whose pioneering technology solutions have made a significant impact on the industry.

Also known as the ‘Meetings Industry Technology Oscars’ the awards are based on a number of criteria including: innovation and uniqueness, impact on the meetings industry and completeness of the product or service.  The winner of the award will receive an exhibition stand within the Technology Village at EIBTM (value €3,000 or £2,300) to showcase their product.
