The Corporate Ski Company hopes Swiss deal will lift bookings

17/08/2012

After seeing a drop in its winter ski season business, The Corporate Ski Company has signed a deal with Switzerland Tourism to offer free airport transfers and discounted ski passes in a bid to boost bookings to the country.

John Denham, managing director of parent company The Vantage Point Group, said that in 2007/8 the winter season made up 60 per cent of the business, but in 2011/12 it was just 15 per cent.

He said: “That’s a pretty significant drop. The cause of that is currency fluctuation and the effect that has had on costs; clients are cost-sensitive, particularly investment banks and financial institutions. We want to get the ball rolling on our ski brand and say Switzerland is back."

As part of the deal, groups staying for at least three nights will receive a free airport coach return transfer to the resort and more than 150 hotels are offering reductions in the cost of a ski pass ranging from 10 to 100 per cent.
