Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre has officially opened the doors to its marketing suite – complete with a virtual reality tour of the project.

The suite has been kitted out with virtual reality headsets so buyers can explore the new venue and its spaces, which are currently being built.

Venue director Michael Watton said: “We’ve got 40 site visits booked in the next month and we’ll be making the best use possible of this space. We have the virtual reality and also the open terrace where we can literally watch the development and building take place.

“We think it’s a unique environment to come and learn about prospects for the future.”

The new venue, set to open in February 2018, is set to become one of the UK’s foremost meeting and exhibition destinations. The purpose-built structure boasts more than 20,000 sqm of flexible event space, including 12,500 sqm of exhibition space and can host up to 2,500 conference delegates theatre style. It has onsite parking for 3,500 cars.

Watton added: “Soon enough we’ll be doing hard hat site tours, but at the moment we’re relying on VR. We can see what a room set up for a conference would look like, just to give you the picture of how the building will develop.”
