QHotels is opening the doors to its Event Profs Panel and inviting more corporate and agency rising stars to get involved with its ongoing programme of activities and events.

Heading towards its third year, the Event Profs Panel was established following research showing a shift towards younger professionals entering the industry. All 14 current panel members have less than five years’ industry experience and are employed by major agencies and corporates, including Gorkana, Tebays, First Choice Conference & Events, ArrangeMY, Brief2Event and Porterhouse Medical.

The latest to join the panel is Duncan Balloch, advisor of events & plant tours for BMW Group at MINI Plant Oxford. Duncan, who has a degree in business management and communication, is a graduate of BMW’s four-year apprenticeship programme and has been in his event management role for six months.“I am still new to the events world, so the Event Profs Panel gives me a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable insights into key industry issues and to share opinions and views with other event profs from around the UK,” he said.

Claire Rowland, director of marketing at QHotels, said: “Young event professionals like Duncan are the industry’s future. The Event Profs Panel gives them an opportunity to help shape that future, and to share experiences with their peers.”

The research and findings from the panel’s regular round-table events are making an impact within the industry, attracting the attention of a range of organisations, including the HBAA and the Institute of Event Management (IEM). Key industry issues discussed by the panel include career development, technology and changing trends in banqueting. Industry organisations, education providers and influencers within the industry are also invited to meet with the panel and explore how they could collaborate with QHotels to tackle other key industry issues.
