Nick de Bois has written a book about his time as an MP.

The current chair of the Events Industry Board, De Bois was the founder and MD of events agency Rapiergroup for 20 years before serving as MP for Enfield North from 2010-2015.

His new book, Confessions of a Recovering MP, promises to give the inside story of his time in Westminster.

He said: “It’s an unusual journey to go from running an events and exhibitions company to being a Member of Parliament. At times and like many jobs it’s been frustrating, but overall I found being in Parliament one of the most fascinating times of my life.

“The book sets out to lead the reader through an insiders journey when I came up against the shocking, the bizarre, the humbling and the most rewarding. From trying to support constituents one minute then challenging the Prime Minister the next, I hope the anecdotes and recollections will leave readers both entertained and a little wiser about their representatives.”

De Bois used his time as an MP to urge the events sector to have greater relationships with government and launched the first ever All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the events industry in 2013.

Unfortunate name. Confessions of MPs are plentiful at the moment. Shame the hard back is not out before Christmas. My stockings will, like many an MP this year, be sadly bereft of anything.
