Shakespeare's England hosts global fam trip

The group of nine event organisers from America, Canada and Europe took in a range of Warwickshire venues

Shakespeare’s England, the destination management organisation for Warwickshire, showcased the region to a group of global event organisers as part of the MeetGB event.

Organised by Meet Shakespeare’s England, the DMO’s business tourism arm, the group of nine event organisers from America, Canada and Europe took in a range of venues including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Warwick Castle, Warwick Conferences and Ettington Park.

The trip was part of the itinerary for MeetGB, VisitBritain’s London-based showcase of 80 meetings and event suppliers from across the UK who were brought together with 120 global meetings, events and incentive planners to do business at the event, held from 19 - 20 April.

VisitBritain/VisitEngland chief executive Sally Balcombe said: “MeetGB showcased to global buyers the breadth and quality of the UK’s meetings and events industry, demonstrating our fantastic infrastructure, our ease of access and the quality on offer across so many destinations for the international business events market.”

This flagship event gives our suppliers and local destinations the chance to forge valuable business connections and ultimately bring more international conferences, meetings and business events to the UK, boosting the economy.”
Event organisers Pamela Burkes from Williamsburg Travel Management said: “I’m a first time traveller to London and Shakespeare’s England so this region has been new for me to experience. It has been an amazing trip, especially to learn about alternative destinations that I can suggest to my clients.”
